Individual postnatal recovery exercise

Individual postnatal recovery exercise

Postnatal training was created to help regain the physical condition and activity level a woman had before pregnancy.

Pregnancy itself has a major effect on physical condition, the circulatory system, breathing and mental wellbeing. Birth, whether vaginal or by cesarean section, is a remarkable challenge for the body. For a woman in this situation it is essential that restoring her fitness happens first within a properly structured, individual exercise program.

The foundation of postnatal training is teaching proper breathing technique, correcting and refining the function of the abdominal muscles, and regenerating the pelvic floor muscles. Without these foundations, well-executed functional movements cannot be performed.

It is recommended for every woman who has been through pregnancy, first individually, and then, in continuous consultation with the physiotherapist, in group form.

During the sessions the physiotherapist assesses the condition of the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles and designs the personalized exercise sequence accordingly. Treatment usually takes place once a week, and practicing at home is also an integral part of the program. The duration of postnatal recovery varies from person to person, but regular exercise can significantly speed up recovery and help prevent later complications.
